Clicking around a cloud console to provision servers is a rookie mistake that costs you money. It's 2026. If your infrastructure isn't living in a Git repository, you're just waiting for a catastrophic outage. No fluff here. Managing modern cloud architectures by hand is a guaranteed way to introduce human error, security holes, and massive billing headaches.

What's Broken

Here's the thing. Manual deployments don't scale.

I've watched teams bleed thousands of dollars because someone forgot to spin down a rogue database instance on GCP. Then there's Pulumi. This is where things get interesting. If you're already writing backend services in Go or Python 3.15, Pulumi lets you define your infrastructure using those exact same languages. No new DSL to learn. You get actual loops, conditionals, and real testing frameworks. You can write unit tests for your load balancers. It's a massive shift in how we build.

The 2 a.m. War Story

We had a massive organic traffic spike, and our manual auto-scaling rules failed. The load balancers choked.
